If life was always so cheery and bright,

Would I find grace to deliver me in the night?

If life had no stress and riches outpoured,

Would I find peace and joy in my Lord?

If life had no grief or burdens to bear,

Would I endure and find comforts to share?

If life had no sorrow, suffering, or pain,

Would I learn lessons of infinite gain?

If life was so happy and always at ease,

Would I run to Jesus and fall on my knees?

If life was so perfect and always in tune,

Would I sing of His mercy and long for Home soon?
