PAIN DEFEATED!

Oh, pain, the test
Anxious to overtake
Like a lion to devour
But its prey escapes
A panicked heart
Mysteriously calmed
No longer consumed
Escaping its threats

Oh, pain, unrestrained
Foolishly focused
Trapped in doubt
Back and forth
Like a child’s yo yo
Such a tug of war
Like a foolish game
How could that be?
Confused in mind
Clenched with fear
A whirlpool of pity
Drowning in tears
Losing true sight

Oh, pain, you won’t!
You can’t take over
Gripping the soul
Even the thoughts
From head to toe
Obsessed like new lovers
Consumed only with the other
Reaching out
Grabbing hold
The Model molds
Chiseling away
Selfish ways

Oh! The Father rules!
The Comforter to cling to
Like a mother to her child
The shepherd for his sheep
A king to his throne

Oh, yes, God takes over!
This mystery ordained
Consumed in Him
Peace overflows
Wrapped in Love’s arms
Held in the palm of His hand
Underneath He holds
Breathes joy in the soul
Like a dying man awaits his crown
As the sinner longs to see His Savior

Oh, Pain relieved
As quick as the cheetah
As fast as the the falcon
Like a mouse scurrying away
No longer to be found
All because of grace poured out
New mercies revived
To see His power
To feel His strength
To know His presence
Weakness is made strong
Focus renewed like the eagle
Deliverance shines through
Submitting to His Will

God’s Word, sharper than any sword
Protecting and convicting
Healing the spirit
Surrendering all
The body made whole!
Thanking the Sovereign God
For His unspeakable gifts!
Trials become praise
To the Author of pain!
