Remember when borders were fully secured,
And playing in neighborhoods, safe and assured;
Going to school without even a care
Or shopping with no need of concern for our welfare?
Absorbed in ambitions to obtain the American dream
Reaching for the stars and the ultimate extreme!
We aspired for success with true hopes and joy
With nothing to hold back to detain or annoy.
But our “happily ever after” was unexpectedly jeopardized,
As immorality and insecurity soar rapidly on the rise.
Times have changed as more corruption crept in,
Caused by complacency and the increasing of sin.
Inexperienced leadership took over to intercede,
As vague plans unveiled, some unwilling to concede.
Socialism, the answer, they say, just down the road,
Government will make our decisions, and will freedom corrode?
Middle class and rich will pay for the poor,
As Uncle Sam continues to ask for more.
Concerned people are shocked as fragile economy fails,
And hardened criminals fill up the over-crowded jails.
Each greedy man thinks he has to have his own land,
And credit card spending has gotten way out of hand.
Then massive buildings blow up before our eyes
By wicked men who possess such hatred, they terrorize,
Killing the innocent by the thousands at Ground Zero,
Making those who unjustifiably died, our American heroes.
Now stepping in a large building, we fearfully watch all around;
And try not to panic when we must leave the ground.
Communities started caring more about one another
And became bonded teams, looking out for their brother,
Fighting against the enemy and supporting our troops,
Except the timid anti-war groups.
Then the complacent forgot the deep impact
And the irreplaceable losses that made history books fact.
Self-centeredness became more of a common problem again,
And our land would have to find a way to come together and mend.
Then emerging out of nowhere, horrific natural disasters,
Revealing once again to the world the awesome Creator and Master.
If only they would have heeded His harsh, obvious warning,
Maybe there would be less reprove and sorrow and mourning.
Our land of the free is trapped by the clutches of sin.
Is it too late to untangle this web within?
For many years, there remains a dreadful threat.
Nuclear weapons could be used one day, causing fret.
Crime is everywhere, and justice does not always prevails.
So many criminals get off for free or simply by bail.
Same-sex marriage in our society accepted somehow,
But the Bible clearly states whose union God does allow.
It says that marriage is between one woman and one man.
This is how it has been since life began.
Homosexuality is also being embraced.
Immorality getting out of hand is what we must face!
How about when a mother uses her “right”
And aborts her unborn baby who cannot fight,
Joining the innocent millions of babies killed,
Just so their mothers can move on and feel more fulfilled,
Except that many regret it, and the pain is there to stay,
Remembering the moment their babies’ lives were taken away.
But some are fighting and working long hours
To have unborn children’s lives in their powers
By fighting to have abortion legalized,
But those who honor life know babies are heaven’s prize!
While trying to save the animals and the whales,
They neglect the unborn baby so fragile and frail.
There are people even trying to legalize drugs.
The world seems to accept immorality with their ears plugged.
Even prayer is being ripped out of our schools,
So many people breaking the age-old rules.
More patterns of unethical living exposed,
Rising to the surface with forgiveness opposed.
But maybe America needs to hit rock bottom for change,
Brought on by their destruction, the hand of God to arrange,
As people gain more through losing, it is easy to say,
Lessons can be learned for the selfish this modern day.
It makes me wonder what our children’s future will be like.
Will there be more crime and hunger and protests to strike?
Will they have to suffer from the mistakes we made?
Will they worry about their freedom and be afraid?
Where does the answer surely lie?
The answer is heavenward in the sky!
God holds the keys to the future to be.
His sovereign eyes are over all to see!
Americans must stand up for what is right
And come together as our forefathers and truly unite.
We ask God to bless America here and abroad,
But do we even bless Him, the Holy Lord our God?
He promises in His Word to bless the nation
Whose God is the Lord, an open declaration!
We must speak up and live HIS way
And pray each day He won’t turn away,
But have mercy on a nation in peril and need,
And change the hearts of the lost, to cause new vision to plead.
We proudly brag to be the home of the free,
But soon we will have to open our eyes wider and see
That radical change must sweep this country of ours
And take place to continue to wave proud stripes and stars!
May God show mercy and come quick to save,
This land of the free and home of the brave!
