FRENCH APPLE CAKE

2 eggs, well beaten
2 cups sugar
2 cups chopped apples
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cups oil

Combine eggs, sugar, and apples; let stand. Sift together dry ingredients and add to apple mixture with dates and nuts. Add oil and vanilla. Bake in greased and floured tube pan in 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Let cool about 25 minutes and turn upside down onto a plate.
